Google revs up connected car plans
Google wants owning a car to be more like using a smartphone, and it's leaning on a partnership with French automaker Renault to make it happen. The companies want to produce a "software-defined vehicle" that relies on Google's cloud technology to smooth out operations in real time. That could mean a driver getting timelier, more advanced maintenance alerts as well as a customized driving experience based on past trips, for instance. The first step: Creating a 'digital twin' of a new car using artificial intelligence, then testing it before making a real-world version.
